Boate ceiling collapse leaves 18 dead in the Dominican Republic

At least 18 people died and another 121 were injured in the early hours of Tuesday (8) after the ceiling of a nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, collapsed, authorities said.

Rescue teams are working to remove people who are still trapped under the rubble, said Juan Manuel Mendez, head of the country’s emergency center of emergency operations.

Ambulances went to the scene and the area was isolated.

Mendez did not report the number of people who were allegedly inside the Jet Set nightclub near the coast of the Dominican capital at the time of collapse.
