After the debut of the new BMW X7, the German automotive giant has taken to updating the X5 and X6 crossovers. There are no radical changes, but the cars received several distinctive exterior elements, a new interior and a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine.
According to Autoreview, the restyled models have new, narrower headlights with built-in running lights, which are also turn signals. The BMW X5 comes standard with an xLine package with extended black trim around the body, while the BMW X6 comes with an M Sport package with a more aggressive body kit, 20-inch wheels and M-suspension. As an additional option for the BMW X5, they offer an illuminated grille, which was previously only available for the X6 model. More from the new: the X5 has taillights and a rear bumper, the X6 has a frame for the exhaust pipes. The body color palette for both models has also been expanded.




Both crossovers received a new interior with a single two-screen Live Cockpit Plus panel. The display with instruments has a diagonal of 12.3 inches, and the multimedia screen is 14.9 inches. The number of buttons has been greatly reduced, and all controls have been integrated into the media system. BMW has added a new gear selector, paddle shifters and sport seats to the base. The media system has advanced features, including the Digital Key Plus option, which allows you to unlock and start the car from your smartphone.




When buying a BMW X5, they offer xDrive30d, M60i or xDrive50e variations. The first includes an upgraded six-cylinder 3.0 diesel engine that produces 286 hp. and 650 Nm. The second offers a 4.4-liter V8 with 530 hp. with electric motor and battery. The third version is a hybrid system consisting of a 3.0 petrol turbo engine and an electric motor, with a peak power of 490 hp. On electricity, you can drive about 110 km.
The BMW X6 is available with xDrive30d and M60i powertrains. Instead of a plug-in hybrid – xDrive40i with a new three-liter in-line “turbo-six” with a capacity of 380 hp. All petrol and diesel crossovers received a new 48-volt starter-alternator built into the eight-speed automatic. It helps in the first seconds of acceleration, which reduced the time to “hundreds” from 5.6 to 4.8 s.
The updated crossovers BMW X5 and X6 will go on sale in April this year, but now they can be pre-ordered. In Germany, for example, the cost of the BMW X5 is from 86,300 euros, and the BMW X6 – from 93,400 euros.
