Blumenau and region beyond Oktoberfest: restaurants and tours to enjoy with the family

Originally from an agricultural colony with immigrants initially from Germany and then from Poles and Italians, blumenau is, at the time we are in, a destination for countless tourists who seek to participate in the already traditional oktoberfest .

Since 1984 this party, which is the largest of the Americas and one of the largest in the world, animates its visitors with lots of music, typical German food and drink. The fact is that, during the 19 days of Oktoberfest throughout this month (from 5/10 to 23/10) tourists seek attractions beyond the party, such as restaurants, bars and attractions to enjoy with the family.

I was there last week due to family commitments (my wife was born in Blumenau) and, as I was with the family, I tried to vary the schedule so as not to depend exclusively on beer, music, pork knuckle (something I would love, of course, but the occasion would not allow it).

Hence the idea of indicating some places that, in my opinion, will perfectly complement the agenda of attractions for this city where, I guarantee, you eat and have fun.

For those who don’t go to Oktoberfest, it’s important to say that none of the attractions are seasonal so that any visit to Blumenau and region may include the following indications.

Hope you like and enjoy!

Norden Bar & Biergarten

O Norden works in a revitalized 1879 mansion and has been attracting many visitors not only for its architectural beauty, but also for the german gastronomy . The menu has several options of draft beer and typical foods, such as bretzel, reiberdatshi (Rosti potato), weisswurst (white pork sausage), schnitzel (breaded chicken breast) and goulash with spatzle (cooked meat accompanied by the well-known German pasta).

Norden Bar & Biergarten : Rua Xavantina, 100, Boa Vista, Blumenau-SC / Open daily from 11 am to midnight.

At Moita Grill

O in the bush was born as a family project to supplement income (using the barbecue at the founder’s house to sell grilled meats), but due to its success it became this traditional blumenauense steakhouse . The menu contains options already known in several steakhouses, especially the double fillet and the rump fillet served with bone.

At Moita Grill : Rua Joinville, 365, Vila Nova, Blumenau-SC / Open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and on Sundays from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Benkendorf

If there’s something I like about Blumenau, it’s the bakeries and confectioneries and for me the Benkendorf , founded in 1958, is an icon in this regard. The menu consists of numerous options such as cuca (fermented bread dough with toppings such as crunchy cinnamon farofa, banana, cream etc.), bread with dumplings (basically, a meat dumpling inside a bun) and all kinds of cakes.

Benkendorf : Rua São Paulo, 1638, Victor Konder, Blumenau-SC / Open from Monday to Saturday, from 6 am to 8 pm.

Pomerode Foods

A little more than 30km from Blumenau is Pomerode, known as the most German city in Brazil. And among the program options there, you cannot miss visiting the Pomerode Foods for a factory tour, a tasting or just the store that contains all the products (among which the award-winning cheeses from the Vermont ).

Pomerode Foods : Rua dos Atiradores, 71, Centro, Pomerode-SC / Open from Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 7 pm.

Pomerode Zoo

had as the biggest zoo in Santa Catarina and the oldest in southern Brazil, the Pomerode Zoo shelters approximately 250 species in 45 thousand m². It is also home to endangered species, in a heavily wooded area.

Pomerode Zoo : Rua Hermann Weege, 180, Centro, Pomerode-SC / Open daily from 8 am to 6 pm.

Alles Park Pomerode

O Alles Park is Santa Catarina’s newest theme park, with German inspiration and numerous attractions such as Vila da Neve (Santa Catarina’s first snow attraction) and toys such as Ferris wheel, carousel, mirror maze, Puzzle Room (challenge room for participants discover the way to escape it), as well as light and water presentations.

Alles Park Pomerode : Av. January 21, 2300, Centro, Pomerode-SC / Open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm and Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm.
