The social network Bluesky it underwent new updates and launched, on Wednesday (25), a tool that indicates trending topics on the platform. Now, the platform uses the feature Trending Topics (Trend Topics, in literal translation), homonym of the tool used with the same function in X (formerly Twitter), its direct competitor.
The tool has the same function on both social networks. In Bluesky it can be found by clicking on the search icon. On smartphones, it is located in the bottom bar of the application. On computers, in the right sidebar.
The news was announced on Blueksy’s official profile on the network. In the publication, the social network also shared the initial details of use:
- you can disable it with the X button or in settings;
- your silenced words are transferred to Trendin;
- English only for now while we test.
Despite the network notifying that the feature is now available, some users reported that they are still unable to use it.
The new tool was anticipated CNN by the operations director of the social network Bluesky, Rose Wang, in September this year. In an interview, she assured that videos and trending topics would arrive on the platform “soon”. The videos became available in the same month.
“We have heard repeatedly how important these two features are for Brazilians. Therefore, we want to respond in kind, as Brazilians are betting on us, we want to ensure that they receive these roles,” said Wang.
At the time of the executive’s interview with CNN X was blocked in Brazil by determination of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). During that period, other social networks achieved significant growth in user numbers in the country.
The number of Brazilians on Bluesky grew exponentially when X was suspended in the country. In the first seven days of the suspension alone, 3 million new users created their accounts on Bluesky, and 85% of them were Brazilians.
For the director, the Brazilian way helped shape the face of the social network from the beginning.
Merry Christmas from us to you
We launched Trending Topics today, and you can find it by tapping the search icon on the bottom bar of the app or the right sidebar on desktop.
