Blue now allows flight attendants and pilots to show tattoos and piercings

Following the trend of other airlines, Azul announced, this Friday (8), that pilots and flight attendants no longer need to hide their tattoos and piercings. The company also released these employees so that they can use hair styles of the most varied types and colors.

In addition, other rules have been updated. For makeup and nail polish, for example, the airline said that employees can now choose more options, according to their personal style.

When boarding domestic flights, the use of the blazer by flight attendants has become optional – before, it was required to use it during boarding and disembarkation.

For employees who work on the ground, at airports, Azul started to allow the use of sneakers, as well as accessories – including piercings – and tattoos on display. The use of the scarf, a prop that is part of the uniform, became optional.

“The pilots’ and flight attendants’ uniforms make up the flight experience of Crew members and Customers, in addition to being designed taking into account safety-related issues. We understand that some changes, suggested by the aeronauts themselves, could be incorporated to make the day to day of the team more comfortable, respecting the style and personality of each one”, explains Daniel Tkacz, Vice President of Operations at Azul.

In addition to the announcements made, in a note, the company informed that “a committee was created to constantly analyze new possibilities to make the personal presentation guidelines more pleasant and comfortable for the teams involved”.

Abroad, recent examples have occurred. In May, British airline Virgin Atlantic made changes to its appearance policy and announced that its crew members with tattoos will be able to show them while wearing their uniforms.
