As noted by bloomberg.comthe basic financing is provided by Sberbank which is the largest Russian bank as well as from Russian Sovcombank. Nonetheless, the money to the Turkish subsidiary Akkuyu Nuclear JSC are sent from Rosatom Corp and indeed in dollars and not Turkish lira or Russian rubles.
For example, last week Rosatom Corp sent Akkuyu Nuclear JSC a transfer of 5 billion dollars, while until the end of next week two more money transfers are scheduled.
It is noted that the construction of the nuclear power plant began in 2018 and is expected to be fully completed in 2026. Rosatom, which controls 100% of the plant’s management company, has left open the possibility of a future sale of 49% of the shares.
Also, based on the publication, anonymous imgs said that the transfer of money was a “thank you” from Russia to Turkey for the role played by the latter in the resumption of grain exports from Ukrainian Black Sea ports.
