The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken today condemned the referendums on the annexation of Ukrainian regions into the Russian Federation as an attempt to “grab territory”.
“This travesty of referendums organized by the Kremlin it’s just a futile attempt to cover up what amounts to yet another attempt to grab territory from Ukraine,” the head of US diplomacy said, adding: “To be clear: the results were orchestrated by Russia and do not reflect the will of the Ukrainian people ».
Tomorrow Friday, the Russian president Vladimir Putin is expected to announce the annexation of four Ukrainian regions – Donetsk and Luhansk (east), Kherson and Zaporizhia (south) – which Kyiv and the West have condemned.
The US Secretary of State reiterated that the United States will “never recognize” these annexations of territory and that it will continue to support Ukraine.
