Canadian mining company Bitfarms has launched a new bitcoin mining farm in the Argentine city of Rio Cuarto. The current farm capacity is 10 MW.
Bitfarms expects the capacity of the farm to increase fivefold as new sites are launched. By 2023, it will be 50 MW, which will add about 2.5 Eh/s to the company’s current capacity. After reaching a capacity of 210 MW, it will be the most modern and largest mining farm.
The facility will house the latest water-cooled Antminer S19 Pro Hydro models to increase efficiency. According to the hashrate index website, the highest hashed Antminer S19 Pro Hydro ASIC miner for mining BTC consumes about 5,000 watts.
Bitfarms President and COO Jeff Murphy said that the company has set itself the goal of achieving a mining power of 4.2 EH/s. Next, the new facility in Rio Cuarto is expected to house around 10,000 Antminer S19 Pro Hydro and 14,700 Whatsminer M30S.
Earlier, Bitfarms reported a drop in net profit to $5 million in the first quarter of 2022. In this regard, the company’s management decided to reduce plans for business development.
