Binance flags Monero and Zcash as high-risk assets

The Binance cryptocurrency exchange has expanded the list of coins that have received a “monitoring tag.” This category includes assets that are subject to high volatility and risks, the platform said in a statement.

“Tokens with the Monitoring Tag have higher volatility and risks. They are closely monitored and undergo regular checks,” Binance said.

The privacy-oriented cryptocurrencies Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC) were targeted by the crypto exchange. Binance also classified Aragon (ANT), Firo, Keep3rV1, Mdex, MobileCoin, Reef, Vai, Horizen as high-risk assets.

To gain access to trading tokens with the tag mentioned above, users are required to complete surveys every 90 days about the risks of interacting with crypto assets. Binance said it will conduct regular reviews of projects and decide whether to add or remove “monitoring tags” to tokens.

Last week, the OKX crypto exchange announced the delisting of XMR, ZEC and some other tokens. Platform CEO Jay Hao named the basic principles for choosing cryptocurrencies for placement on the platform.
