At the end of 2022, he estimated Bill Gates how the “return to normalcy” will occur, as more vaccines will be available to fight covid-19.
In an interview on the network SkyNews, Microsoft co-founder stressed that a full return to normalcy depends on vaccines.
“There are still some questions about how widespread the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be, because in such a case some of the richest countries, such as the US and Britain, will benefit and even this summer they will rise to a very high level. “Vaccine rates are high and vaccine doses will be released to reach the whole world by the end of 2021 and 2022,” said Bill Gates.
As he stressed, “so we will not have completely eliminated the disease, but we will have managed to reduce it to very small numbers by the end of 2022.”
The 65-year-old American billionaire warned, however, that preparing for future pandemics is a “top priority” and expressed concern that the nightmare we are experiencing today should be forgotten, as was the case with the Ebola virus.
“It is clear that by understanding the mutations of the viruses and how quickly the competent supervisors can move, when such an issue reappears, we will be much smarter next time,” he said, adding that not enough resources had been invested in addressing such risks.
“So I hope we have to keep in mind that we need to invest and be ready for the next pandemic,” he said.
