The American president Joe Bidendiscussed with him emir of CatarrhTamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, on “the latest developments in Israel and Gaza, including efforts to release of hostages that were kidnapped by Hamas” the White House announced today.

The conversation between the two leaders, as reported by APE-MPE, takes place at a time when its leader C.I.A is expected to meet in Europe with his counterparts from Israel and Egypt, as well as the prime minister of Qatar, in hopes of negotiating a truce in Gaza and the release of the hostages, according to several US media reports.

The American president also spoke with Mr Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's Egyptian counterpart, said White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.

At the same time, the White House expressed the hope for progress in the talks involving the release of hostages held by Hamas, as Joe Biden's Middle East envoy Brett McGurk returns to Washington following hostage talks he had during his trip to the region. However, “there is no imminent” announcement on this matter, he emphasizes.

“We will continue to do everything possible to pave the way for a new deal for the hostages,” Kirby said at the press briefing.

But “we should not expect immediate progress,” he added.
