Belo Horizonte declares dengue emergency situation

The city of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, declared a dengue emergency in a decree published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality this Saturday (17).

The decision, according to the document, applies to all areas of the capital of Minas Gerais for a period of six months, with the possibility of extension. The State Secretary of Health of Minas Gerais (SES-MG) also reported that another 47 municipalities in the state are in an emergency situation.

The announcement of the situation comes after the capital recorded an increase in the number of cases. According to data from the Ministry of Health's Arbovirus Monitoring Panel, Belo Horizonte has four deaths from dengue, in addition to 21,383 probable cases of the disease.

City hall reports that the city recorded 3,718 positive cases of dengue this year.

According to the decree, public health agents will be authorized to enter properties, whether public or private, without prior authorization from the owners, to check for outbreaks of the disease. Aedes aegyptitransmitter of the disease.
