Bella Ramsey Delivers The Last of Us Season 2 Premiere Prediction: “It Should Take a Long Time”

The last episode of “The Last of Us” aired on March 12, brought fans of the series an exciting conclusion to the first phase of the trajectory of Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal), but it also caused a lot of anxiety about the arrival of the second season, which should not happen so soon, according to the protagonist.

Last Sunday (19), Bella Ramsey revealed, during her participation in “The Jonathan Ross Show”, that the premiere “should take a while”. She stated that filming should begin at the end of this year or the beginning of the next: “Therefore, the forecast for the premiere will be between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025”.

Based on the game of the same name, the series was acclaimed by critics and fans of the game, considered one of the best video game adaptations for an audiovisual production.

The new season will also be based on “The Last of Us – Part 2” and “is already in production”, as confirmed by Neil Druckmann, co-creator of the game and producer of the series, on social networks.

Craig Mazin, also creator of the series, revealed to the British GQ that the events of the second game yield “more than a television season”, suggesting a third – or more. In addition, Mazin and Druckmann told the magazine that the second part of the plot should present “radically different” moments in the game, with much more action and infected and grandiose scenarios.

The debut of the series was well-awaited by fans of the game, but it gained new admirers who had not even played the game one day. Starting in January, it was HBO’s second best debut in the last ten years, behind only “House of the Dragon”, and continued to show audience growth, with an average of 30.4 million viewers in the first six episodes, with the last of them the one with the highest audience.

What to expect from season two?

Last week, rumors that Bella Ramsey would not play Ellie in the upcoming season gained momentum on social media. Some fans believe that it would be necessary to cast a new actress, as the character is 14 years old in the first season and 19 in the second.

However, according to Entertainment Weekly magazine, Mazin and Druckmann demonstrated, during a press conference, to be totally against the idea. When asked about the rumours, Mazin explained about the casting for the story.

“One of the difficult things about the casting process is that we invite people to join us in that process – and we know the secrets of production and nobody else knows anything except what they know about the game,” he said. “We know what we’re going to do in terms of costume, makeup and hair, but more importantly, we also know the spirit and soul of the actor.”

In the game, released in 2020, the story takes place five years after the events of the first part, but continues to follow Joel and Ellie (who have a trajectory marked by revenge). However, player decisions are even more present, which makes fans curious to know how the adaptation will deal with this issue, especially with the introduction of new characters, such as Abby.
