Beleris letter to EU and US: I am in prison because I was a representative of the opposition that opposed Rama

A letter to the European Union and the United States, through which he asks them to look into his court case and take measures, addresses Freddy Beleris.

“I am addressing you with respect, as the elected Mayor of the Municipality of Heimarra, because I am sure that the file and my case show that this is not the justice that you want for us, the justice that we deserve,” he says, among other things, in letter signed by Freddy Beleris “as an Albanian and European citizen holding Greek citizenship”.

I am addressing you as the elected Mayor of the Municipality of Chimarra, Dionysios Fredis Beleris. Unfortunately, I am still not allowed to take up the position for which I was elected in the local elections of May 14, 2023, as I have been in custody since May 12, 2023. In recent days, despite the many obstacles put up by the officials of the new court, SPAK, which you have supported, evidence has been made available to me that proves what I have been saying since the day of my arrest, namely that I have been the victim of illegal police action, fueled by the Prime Minister's public insults and abusive attacks on me.

Excellencies Ambassadors,
I took the courage to address you, as an Albanian and a European citizen, as I also hold Greek citizenship, because I do not believe that this is the justice you wanted for Albania, it cannot be the justice you invested in! I am in jail because the police watched me and all my political staff for 5 days, 24 hours a day, and when they found no illegality, they recruited a false witness who stated that I offered to buy votes on my behalf. I'm in jail because the police and the prosecutor's office of Avlona forged documents that place the false witness in two places at onceat least three times, in order to justify my arrest.

The state media reported that there are wiretappings against me, but the trial ended without these wiretappings being heard. After they arrested me, they tried to change the documents and put fake documents in the file for illegal wiretapping. I have repeatedly asked SPAK to conduct an investigation into the dossier fabricated by police and justice officials in Avlonas, who, out of zeal to serve the prime minister, violated the Constitution, violated the basic principles of democracy and free elections.

I am in prison because I was a representative of the opposition, who openly opposed the prime minister. I do not believe that in the countries you represent, the opposition is policed ​​just because the Prime Minister does not like it. I do not believe that you have invested in a justice that serves political power and covers up the forgeries of justice officials. I am addressing you with respect because I am confident that my record and case show that this is not the justice you want for us, the justice we deserve. This cannot be the justice of a country that aspires to become a member of the European Union. I address you with this Public Letter, in the hope of calling your attention to this justice which is your own creation and is being circumvented for the political interests of a man, who in order to maintain power, sacrifices the sacred principles of the Republic and of Free Elections.
