Bahia: Action against clandestine transport ends with gunfire at airport

The departure and landing area of ​​Salvador airport was the scene of a confusion that ended with fire on the morning of Monday (28). The shots took place when the driver of a van was approached, during an operation against irregular passenger transport, carried out by the Municipal Mobility Secretariat (Semob), with the support of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM).

The moment was recorded on video made by both driver and agents. In the images, it is possible to see that the agents ask the driver’s documents, which claims the regularity of their service, even without presenting the passenger list. Watch video:


In a note sent to CNN Semob and GCM contest this information, stating that the vehicle was not authorized to transport passengers.

Still during the approach, the driver entered the van, trying to prevent the vehicle’s towing. Then you can hear that it is changed, accelerates and runs away the airport. It was at this moment that a municipal guard fired twice at the vehicle’s tires.

The municipal agencies also justified the use of the weapon. “Given the situation, it was necessary to shoot the vehicle tire to ensure the safety of those involved and avoid the escape. The agents followed the vehicle, but the driver managed to escape,” they said in a statement. The case was registered at the 12th Police Station (Itapuã).

These operations are performed daily in various parts of the city, with the objective of maintaining public transport order and protecting passengers. Salvador Airport stated that the occurrence was not inside the passenger terminal.
