The earthquakes that occurred in early February in Turkey and Syria not only left behind serious damage to buildings and constructions in both countries, they also killed tens of thousands of people, generating endless devastating and tragic stories of families who In addition to having suffered the death of a member, they still have a missing family member, preventing each of its members from reuniting.
However, apparently, not everything is disappointment and sadness, since, little by little, cases of families that have been reunited continue to emerge. Just like the emotional reunion of a mother who, after 54 days without hearing from her baby, was finally able to have her again in her arms.
The case that brings hope to all those affected by the devastating earthquakes corresponds to a woman named Yaseming Besdag and her little daughter, barely a month and a half old, who was under the care of the Turkish State after being found under the rubble of a collapsed building.
The minor, who is known as one of the so-called “miracle babies”, managed to survive 128 hours under the remains of a construction in which she was found by rescuers with minor injuries, and was later placed in the care of the Social Service of the Republic of Turkey, where they took her in thinking she was an orphan, as they came to believe her mother had died buried after the collapse.
However, the story in Gizem’s life, as the minor was called by the unit under her care, took an unexpected turn after a relative appeared before the authorities looking for a girl who had her characteristics. After a DNA test, it was found that the little girl not only had a family, but that her mother was alive.
Given all the chaos caused by the earthquakes, Yaseming had to be transferred to a hospital to be treated, a situation for which she lost track of her baby until her relative managed to find the whereabouts of her daughter and got her, almost two months of being apart, they could meet again for the first time.
Witnessing their happiness is also an emotional and beautiful moment for us. Uniting a mother with her daughter is one of the most precious acts in the world.
– Derya Yanik, Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey
The adorable story and the emotional video of the reunion of this mother with her daughter was shared on social networks by the Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey, who said she was moved to have witnessed and influenced such a beautiful reunion.
