A baby “surprised” his mother shortly after giving birth by peeing on her face. The scene was caught by family members who were attending the birth and brought laughter from those nearby. The video was shared on social media by the baby’s mother, Francielly Ferreira.
“I never imagined it would have such an impact. I posted it on a social network just to put the song in the video and after three days I went to see it and it already had more than 120 thousand views” said the mother.
Pediatrician Jéssica Alves explained that it is common for babies to urinate shortly after birth, as their kidneys begin to function even before birth, filtering the amniotic fluid.
“Urinating right after birth is a sign that the newborn’s urinary system is working properly,” said the doctor.
For Francielly, the moment was fun and will certainly remain in the memory of family members who witnessed the scene. “From what I’ve seen, it’s quite normal for the baby to pee, but on the mother it’s very different. The moment was really fun, my nephews are kids so they thought it was really funny”, said the baby’s mother.

Daniel Jacob was born on August 12th, but shortly after giving birth he had to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to pulmonary hypertension. The baby was intubated for 10 days and remained in the hospital for 23 days.
The mother says that she only decided to post the video when Daniel was already two months old, as they went through a difficult time during the baby’s hospitalization .
Francielly also reported that she was unable to hold her son immediately after birth.
“I couldn’t hold him as soon as he was born, as he needed to be taken to oxygen. I was only able to hold him after 12 days, as he was intubated for 10 days”, said the mother.
Feeling of victory
Baby Daniel was only allowed to go home by doctors on September 4th. For Francielly, this moment was a true victory.
“It was a real victory for us, a feeling of having won a battle. It was 22 days of going to the maternity ward every day, spending the whole day there, without being able to have contact with him.”
“When he finally left the hospital, it was the most special day of our lives to date”, concluded the emotional mother.
