The average price of diesel at gas stations in Brazil rose 1.37% in May until the 12th, at R$6.96 per liter, compared to the closing of April, according to a survey by Ticket Log, a brand that manages fleets and mobility solutions from Edenred Brasil.
In the same period, diesel type S-10 was sold at an average of R$ 7.08 per liter, an increase of 1.29%.
Prices reacted to the latest adjustment implemented by Petrobras this week, Ticket Log said.
Last Tuesday, the state-owned company increased the average value of diesel by 8.87% in its refineries, with the fuel costing R$ 4.91 per liter.
Before the hike took effect, regular diesel was being sold at pumps at an average of R$6.88 per liter, and the S-10 type at R$7.02, according to the Ticket Log Price Index ( IPTL).
“With the readjustment at the refineries, these values have already advanced at the pumps to 1.2% and 1.7% respectively, in a few days,” said Douglas Pina, director general of Mainstream at Edenred Brasil’s Fleet and Mobility Division, in a statement. .
Petrobras has stated that the prices charged by the company are only a portion of the amounts that reach the final consumer, which are impacted by costs and distribution and resale margins, taxes such as the state ICMS and the mandatory blending of biodiesel.
According to the IPTL, the price of diesel is heading for the fifth consecutive monthly increase since December, a period in which the averages were R$5.61 for common diesel and R$5.68 for the S-10.
In the regional section, the Northeast sold common diesel at the highest average price in the country, at R$ 7.16 per liter in early May, and had the highest increase among the regions, of 2.79%. The lowest average was registered at the stations in the South, at R$ 6.53.
A similar trend was observed for the S-10, with lower values found in the South (R$ 6.61). The highest prices were registered in the North (R$ 7.30), although the highest percentage occurred in the Northeast gas stations (2.09%).
The IPTL is an index of fuel prices based on supplies made at Ticket Log’s 21,000 accredited service stations.
