Avdiivka “fell” into Russian hands – The Ukrainians withdrew their forces

The Russian armed forces announced that they are now in full control of Avdiyivka, in eastern Ukraine, after seizing a Soviet-era coke factory where some Ukrainian servicemen remained, consolidating their biggest battlefield victory in nine months after fierce fighting, some of the most intense war which in a few days completes two years.

This is the most important Russian victory since the capture of Bakhmut in May 2023.

Also, Russia's Defense Ministry reported that its forces had advanced about 9 kilometers in this sector of the vast 1,000 kilometer front and were continuing to advance, after a long and bloody battle in an urban environment.

The Ukrainian army announced in the early hours of Saturday that it had withdrawn its forces from the city to avoid being surrounded.

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian army for this victory, which he described as important.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported today that the “central” formation completely overran the coke production plant in Avdiivka.

According to Russian sources, the Ukrainian withdrawal took place in a hasty and chaotic manner, with military personnel and some of the armaments being left behind.
