Austria: Kurz’s immunity lifted over allegations of corruption

Its parliament Austria lifted the’s former conservative chancellor’s immunity tonight Sebastian Kurtz who resigned in October, when his name was involved in corruption scandal.

Kurtz, 35, entered the focus of a survey but, despite his resignation from the chancellery, not he was prosecuted for his immunity as a member of parliament and leader of the ομάδαςVP Conservative People’s Party parliamentary group.

Kurtz himself had stated, however, that wants to lift his parliamentary immunity so that the investigation can proceed and that he wishes to drop the accusations – wrong according to him – that cost him the chancellery, broadcasts APE BPE.

The scandal erupted in October, when the chancellery and the Ministry of Finance were investigated, as part of the investigation of a case of misuse of public funds, between 20162018, by associates of the former chancellor. The goal was to fund them fabricated polls and to portray Kurtz positively in the media of the powerful Austrian group Österreich.
