Just a few days ago, Audi officials officially unveiled a luxury version of the A8 called the L Horch, and now it’s time to unveil the revamped A8, A8 L and the powerful S8 for the global motoring market. However, although the previous generation of the flagship sedan came out four years ago, there are no cardinal changes in the car – it is, rather, a cosmetic repair. For example, after the update, the A8 received new bumpers, a noticeably enlarged radiator grille (a tribute to modern fashion), many chrome parts and slightly modified headlights. There will be a little more changes when choosing the S line package – a lot of black elements will be added in a circle.
There is much more interesting in the interior of the updated flagship sedan – the car can display navigation tips right on the road, plus a projection screen with a large set of useful information has appeared. Now the driver of the A8 does not have to look down at the display to see the prompt on the turn, speed and stuff like that. At the same time, the displays of the multimedia system themselves remained in the same size as in the previous incarnation of the A8 – a full-fledged digital dashboard and two displays with a diagonal of 8.6 and 10.1 inches. But the passengers in the back row now have 10.1-inch enlarged displays for viewing something on the road.
But in the engine compartment, changes will not work – the company only slightly increased the power of the hybrid version from 449 horsepower to 462 units, they decided not to touch everything else. So, the choice of the buyer is offered petrol V6 and V8 turbocharged, as well as diesel V6 (power 340, 460 and 286 horsepower, respectively). The S8 version, as expected, comes with a 571 horsepower V8.
In Germany, the cost of the basic version of the Audi A8 is 99,500 euros, which is approximately 8.3 million rubles – the first lots will be sent to customers in December this year. The updated flagship will reach Russia in the summer of 2022, but the price has not yet been announced.
