The blow for the family of businessman Prodromos Emfietzoglou is double, as during yesterday’s electronic auction process, both the industrial facilities of the Hellenic Pipeworks in Chalkida and the luxurious residence in Kifissia of Melina Emfietzoglou’s daughter passed into new hands.

Regarding the property of Hellenic Pipeworks, the amount of the award closed at 5,510,001 euros, ie just one euro more than the starting price, while there had been a few attempts in the past to sell it without any result.

The beginning of the end for Engineering

We remind you that this is a historical industry, which has its roots in the 1960s while for several years it operated under the administration of the Tsaousoglou family (under the name Tsaousoglou Pipeworks).

During the 1980s it passed into the hands of the National Bank and then was acquired by the businessman Prodromos Emfietzoglou and joined the then listed Engineering. Although it recorded satisfactory sales with several orders, mainly from America, the difficult years of the financial crisis led both the parent group Engineering and the Greek Pipeworks to a difficult position and financial impasse.

This resulted in a final padlock while the facilities for a few years remain abandoned, sinking into wear and tear.

New property was transferred to new owners in Kifissia by the daughter of the businessman and managing director of Engineering, Melina Emfietzoglou, which was awarded for the amount of 2,900,001 euros, one euro more than the initial price.

It is a listed two-storey building, which was built around 1905 on a plot of 1,737 sq.m. while initially operating as a hotel under the name Pyrna before changing use and converted into a house, which was completely renovated in 1998.

New owners for the properties of Agoudimos

The two horizontal properties in Alimos passed into new hands, which, until recently, belonged to the tourism and hotel business company Nireus, interests of the family of the late shipowner Gerasimos (Maki) Agoudimos.

The most expensive of these, a store on the ground floor of an apartment building facing the seaside, was awarded the amount of 805,501 euros, just one euro more than the initial starting price.

On the other hand, a battle broke out between the interested buyers for the second property, a fifth floor apartment in the same building, as the price of the auction amounted to 605,200 euros, ie increased by about 200,000 euros compared to the first offer price, which had set at 410,080 euros. We remind you that the ground floor store consists of an open space and has an area of 250 sq.m. while the apartment has an area of 176 sq.m.

The specific horizontal properties are located in an apartment building, which was built in 1980 and according to the external autopsy is in good maintenance.
