What do they have in common Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Niels Schneider, Jessie Buckley And Florence Pugh? Love for cinema, of course, but also the Chopard Trophy. This award, which recognizes a young talent of the seventh art, has become one of the most reliable indicators of budding careers and one of the highlights of the Cannes Film Festival. As he explains Caroline ScheufeleCo-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, official partner for twenty-five years“With this award, we are drawing the attention of the entire film industry and the public to an actress and an actor destined to star in the films of tomorrow. As every year, I felt a great emotion during this awards ceremony, sponsored by the legendary Julia Roberts, reading on the faces of these brilliant actors the pride of seeing their talent recognized ».
For this new edition, the ceremony was not without glamor and celebrity. Organized at the Carlton Beach Club, it brought together actors, directors and members of the jury under the gaze of Pierre Lescure, President of the Festival, and Thierry Frémaux, its General Manager. We met Xavier Dolan, Saoirse Ronan, Vincent Lindon, Lashana Lynch, Rebecca Hall, Deepika Padukone, Joséphine Japy, Finnegan Oldfield, but also Agathe Rouselle, William Abadie (also met at Gentelman evening), Benjamin Biolay, Joanna Kulig, Noomi Rapace and Vincent Elbaz. And naturally Julia Roberts, godmother of the event.
Ugandan-British actress (but also singer and songwriter) Sheila Atim and English actor Jack Lowden received the trophy from Julia Roberts, thus joining the list of actors honored by the Chopard trophy. The ceremony took place during a dinner entrusted to the chef Bruno Oger, in charge of the Bastide that bears his name and which has been awarded two Michelin stars. On the menu: lobster salad, sweet almond velouté and young vegetables, turbot, celery, virgin leaves, shallots and walnuts, followed by a vanilla Traou Mad, Mara des Bois strawberry juice and ice cream. To top it off, singer Jeanne Cherhal took the stage to perform some of the best songs … in cinema, of course.
