Coordinator of the government program of president-elect Luís Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), former minister Aloizio Mercadante, will have one of the highest salaries for positions appointed by the Brazilian head of state. Mercadante was announced this Tuesday (13) as the president of BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) for the next government.
The salary exceeds R$ 80 thousand according to data released by the bank.
In addition to the president, the entire board has salaries at the same level, exceeding R$75,000. This includes managers in areas such as complianceenergy and sanitation, legal department, human resources and finance department.
Former Minister of Education, Science and Technology and the Civil House, Mercadante will have a salary of almost three times that of the members of Lula’s cabinet. Ministers’ remuneration is lowered through the ceiling. Gross values are around R$ 30 thousand.
There is, however, one nominated by Lula who will earn even more than Mercadante, the future president of Petrobras.
