At least 25 people die in Israeli attacks in Lebanon

Israeli attacks in Lebanon killed at least 25 people this Tuesday (26), according to a count by the CNN with data from the Ministry of Health.

The deaths occurred on the same day that Israel accepted a proposal to end the conflict with Hezbollah.

At least 10 people were killed in central Beirut, six in the city of Shaqra and two in the southern city of Tyre, six in the Baalbek-Hermel region and one in Hadath in the Mount Lebanon area south of Beirut, agreement with the ministry.

Lebanon’s official news agency (NNA) said an apartment building in Hamra, central Beirut, was hit. Hamra, the capital’s busiest commercial district, is home to two American universities and several international non-profit offices. Previously, the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for areas including Hamra.

The NNA also said that “a hostile drone struck al-Qard al-Hassan in Zuqaq al-Blat,” referring to a Hezbollah-linked financial institution.

The Israeli military claimed to have conducted “intelligence-based strikes against nine terrorist targets that were components of Hezbollah’s financial management and systems in the areas of Beirut, Sidon, Tire and Beqaa, in continuation of previous attacks.”

The military said the targets included a warehouse, branches of Al-Qard Al-Hassan and a currency exchange that they say was used to finance Hezbollah’s military activities.

In the hours leading up to the approval of the ceasefire, Israel drastically intensified its attacks in Beirut, targeting certain central areas of the city – and not just the Hezbollah-dominated southern suburbs – for the first time in the conflict.
