At least 18,787 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7

At least 18,787 Palestinians have been killed and 50,897 have been injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip since October 7, as stated in today’s announcement by the representative of the Gaza Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Kudra. Earlier today, Palestinian health authorities announced that at least 11 Palestinians killed in recent days’ raid by Israeli soldiers on Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, amid reports of gunfire, hundreds arrests and limited access to hospitals.

A young man succumbed to his injuries this morning as a result of the Israeli operation in the city in the northern part of West Bank, which began earlier this week, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Two others Palestinians were killed during the night, according to the same source.

“Israeli forces have searched hundreds of buildings and interrogated hundreds of suspects since the operation began on December 12,” the army said in a statement. They dismantled six explosives laboratories and underground galleries and defused explosive devices, according to the statement. From the start of the raid on the morning of December 12, Israeli forces have arrested hundreds of civilians, with the majority of them having since been released, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Club said in a statement.

“The Israel does not allow ambulances to enter the camp to transport patients,” Mahmoud al-Saadi, director of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Jenin, told Reuters. “We have six ambulances, but we can’t even reach the patients who need to be taken to the hospital, some of whom need dialysis,” al-Saadi said.

“The army did not allow us to enterdespite efforts to coordinate with the Red Cross and the United Nations relief agency for the Palestinians», he said, adding that the soldiers were also outside the Jenin Government Hospital. Four soldiers were slightly injured by controlled explosions and fires by Israel’s own forces, the army said in its statement. The soldiers seized a mosque, where sporadic gunfire could be heard in the distance, according to a video released on social media. Reuters was unable to independently cross-reference these images.

In a question about them Palestinian deaths and reports that soldiers were blocking ambulance access to patients, the military confirmed that “anti-terrorist operations” were in progress in the city and said more details would be released after they were over.

Before the latest operation, the Palestinian Ministry of Health had reported that 275 Palestinians had been killed in the West Bank since October 7, when gunmen from the Islamist group Hamas invaded southern Israel, killing an estimated 1,200 Israelis.
