At least 15 dead and 36 injured after a bus collided with a truck in Mexico

At least 15 people were killed and another 36 injured in traffic accident accident that occurred near the city of Tehuacan, in the central state of Puebla of Mexicothe Mexican authorities announced today.

The accident occurred at dawn (local time) on the highway that connects Oaxaca (south) to Puebla (central). A truck collided with a bus carrying mostly Venezuelan immigrants.

The injured were taken to a hospital in Tehuacan, the second largest city in the state of Puebla.

Thousands of irregular immigrants – mainly from Central American countries (such as Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador) but also from Haiti, Cuba or Venezuela – cross Mexico every year, hoping to reach the US.

Most are exploited by trafficking rings.
