At least 11 people were killed and 35 were injured on Saturday in a fire that partially destroyed a shopping mall in Karachi, officials in the financial capital said Pakistan.
“Our rescuers recovered 11 bodies” from the ruins, Shahid Hussain, representative of the Chippa organization, which is responsible for rescue services, told AFP.

He added that 35 people have been injured, seven of them seriously. “At least 40 people were rescued”he said.
Shabir Ali, a spokesman for the local health ministry, confirmed the provisional death toll to AFP.
The fire broke out on the fourth of six floors of the mall city’s.
Hussain said the fire was caused by a short circuit in a generator and quickly spread to two floors of the mall.
