A student from the Medical Course at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac), identified as a 20 -year -old Mesquita Nascimento Assure Outrage in publicizing a series of derogatory and xenophobic comments in relation to Acreans Last Wednesday (9).
The student’s publications quickly spread through the X platform (former ‘Twitter’), generating a wave of repudiation and motivating the performance of the Public Prosecutor of the State of Acre (MPAC).
THE Young man is the daughter of Assurbanipal Mesquita, current Secretary of Industry, Science and Technology of Acre (Seict) . His academic trajectory at UFAC began in 2022, when he entered the medical course through the second edition of the Unified Selection System (Sisu).
In her posts, the student expressed opinions how to consider a compliment being confused with someone outside the state because she was judged “beautiful and different enough not to have been born in the Acril (sic).” On other occasions, he said he had “asco of Acreans” and expressed the desire to never need to look at this “such a dry people.”
In one of the comments, Assuria even stated that “the thing I love most about my boyfriend is that he is not Acre.” The repercussion of the student’s speeches was immediate and caused a strong reaction from the students and the Acrean community.

Faced with the growing negative repercussion, Assurbanipal Mesquita, the father of assignment, issued a public note expressing their solidarity to those who were offended and distancing their family from the opinions manifested by their daughter. The secretary said he had a long conversation with Assure, who showed deep regret.
The Public Prosecution Service of the State of Acre (MPAC), through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Human Rights and Citizenship, took action on the case, establishing a criminal news and requesting the opening of a police investigation to investigate the discriminatory nature of the comments.
Prosecutor Thalles Ferreira emphasized that the objective of the investigation is to investigate the circumstances and motivations behind the statements, as well as verify if the case is a crime of xenophobia. He cited the decision of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), which considers the crime of racism the discrimination of Brazilians due to their national origin. The MPAC has established a period of ten days for the establishment of the police inquiry.

The DCE required UFAC to adopt appropriate institutional measures and that the case be accompanied by the competent legal instances, sympathetic to acre students and citizens who felt affected by the student’s lines.
