As of today April 20: The slaughter of Landloos and the Greek hero who stood against Rockefeller

It was 1914 when Louis Tika’s name became a symbol of sacrifice for the US Labor Movement. As of today, the Colorado National Guard opened fire on strikers in the small town of Landlow, leading to one of the most bloody pages of American labor history. The strike in Landlow, with the main demand of human working conditions and better salaries, had begun months ago. The workers worked on behalf of the powerful company Colorado Fuel & Iron Company, the interests of the Rockefeller family. The conditions in the mines were inhumane, the accidents often deadly, and the “coercive” housing system of the workers functioned as a modern slavery. On April 20, 1914, the strike camp in Landlow was attacked by the company’s ethnic and armed armed.
