Army helicopters take off to RS to search for victims of the rains; 10 people died

Two helicopters belonging to the Army Aviation took off this Wednesday (1st) heading to Rio Grande do Sul to provide assistance to victims of the rains that hit the state .

According to the Army Aviation Command, the aircraft left Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo, with their final destination in Porto Alegre.

Around sixteen soldiers, including members of the Army Aviation Search and Rescue group, will work to search for missing people and rescue victims still stranded as a result of heavy rain.

Equipped with NVG (Night Vision Goggles), the tribulations must carry out searches during the day and also at night.

The equipment allows night flights to occur with low light and makes it possible to land in unprepared areas.

According to the latest bulletin released by the state Civil Defense, 10 people have already died due to the heavy rains affecting Rio Grande do Sul. According to the National Civil Defense, 11 people were injured and 21 are still missing.

Due to the storms, 57% of municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul are currently in a state of emergency . Searches for victims continue in full swing across the state.

The forecast is that the volume of rainfall will remain high, reaching up to 300 millimeters in some areas.
