The National Securities Commission of Argentina (CNV) is launching a program to facilitate the entry into the market of new investment projects, including those related to cryptocurrencies.
The program will be operated by a specially created Innovation Center, which should connect private investors with regulators to exchange information about the requirements that certain products must meet before entering the market.
Commission President Andres Consentino says the initiative is linked to the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies and financial technologies. CNV wants to work together with businesses to create a regulatory framework. One of the main problems and the reason for the launch of the Center, the commission calls cryptocurrency fraud and the desire to improve the investor protection system.
Andres Ponte, president of investment brokerage Matba Rofex, believes that the Center will be able to usher in “a new era of regulated cryptocurrency investment products in Argentina.” According to him, Matba will release such products in the near future.
The regulator expects that the initiative will help not only investors who want to invest in regulated crypto markets, but also replenish the country’s treasury, since operations on regulated markets will be clearly visible to the Argentine tax authorities. At the moment, most transactions with digital currencies in the country are carried out on exchanges and platforms located outside the country.
Recall, earlier it became known that a small Argentine city is trying to restore the railway infrastructure at the expense of income from cryptocurrency mining.
