The Argentine government has declared Hamas an international terrorist organization, President Javier Milei’s office said on Friday (12) in a statement published in X.

The Casa Rosada said the statement was due, among other reasons, to Hamas’ attacks on Israel on October 7.
The action, which led to the death of 1,200 people and around 250 were kidnapped, led to Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, where more than 38,000 people have died so far, according to the local Health Ministry.
For Milei’s government, the October 7 attacks are part of Hamas’s “extensive history of terrorist attacks.”
“President Javier Milei has an unwavering commitment to recognizing terrorists for what they are. This is the first time there has been the political will to do so,” the statement said.
Hamas, which controls the government in Gaza, is an extremist movement whose military wing is responsible for several attacks and is considered a terrorist organization by the US government and the European Union.
Milei, who took office on December 10, has said repeatedly that Israel and the United States are two countries he considers key allies of his government.
