Activation of Dencun in the network of the second largest cryptocurrency by capitalization took place on March 13. The key component of the upgrade is EIP-4844.
To integrate a new type of transaction, L2 networks need to carry out software updates.
The Arbitrum community almost unanimously supported Atlas, which includes most of the changes implemented as part of the upgrade that took place the day before.
Other layer 2 networksโOptimism, Base, and Starknetโhave been able to significantly improve their gas efficiency thanks to Dencun.
Representatives of Offchain Labs expect a tenfold reduction in the average value of the base commission โ from 0.1 Gwei to 0.01 Gwei. An operation that previously cost $0.5 will cost the user approximately $0.05.
Arbitrum is the leader among L2 protocols in terms of value locked (TVL). The figure is approaching $16 billion, according to L2Beat.
Previously, the opBNB second-level network from the BNB Chain developers was ahead of Arbitrum in terms of the number of transactions.
