Apple announced its new lineup of smartphones on Wednesday, which include the new iPhone 14 with a 6.1-inch screen, and the iPhone 14 Plus with a larger 6.7-inch screen.
“As you can see, we are expanding with the iPhone 14 and even more with the iPhone 14 plus,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook when introducing the range.
The new smartphone eliminates the need for a physical SIM card and instead uses a digital card, called an “e-SIM”. With this option, the user can store multiple e-SIMs on the same device and have multiple cell plans and phone numbers on the same device.
It also prevents others from removing the physical SIM card from the iPhone if it is lost or stolen. Among the other announced features, the company’s new generation of smartphones features longer battery life and smartphone glass with “ceramic shield”.
The iPhone 14 uses the same chip as last year’s iPhone 13 Pro model (the A15) – this is the first time Apple has repeated a chip in years. The handset comes with a 12MP main camera with larger pixels, a faster aperture and improved sensors.
For the first time, the new front camera features autofocus, allowing you to focus at various distances in low light for better individual and group selfies. It also has a new action mode that allows users to keep videos steady as they move.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will be available in five colors: midnight, starlight, blue, purple and red.
