The anxiety disorder – like the one that kept singer Wesley Safadão away from the stage this week – concerns a “disproportionate reaction” of the body’s warning system.
That’s what the psychiatrist Gustavo Estanislau explains, CNN Radio in the Medical Correspondent.
“Human beings have an alert system that is important for people,” he said.
In this case, to prepare, for example, for a test or job interview.
“It makes us more focused and prepared to develop some activity and face challenges”, he added.
Estanislau stated that, in anxiety disorders, the person “begins to have a more excessive warning signal in the face of everyday life.”
In addition, “eventually it can happen without any kind of event that triggers this trigger.”
This generates excessive worries, hesitation, stops doing things he likes, has a more negative and insecure attitude.
Crises can also be panic or not.
In panic, “they can be acute, from 5 to 30 minutes, and it is common to have to seek emergency care, with a feeling of imminent death.”

“In anxiety crises, they often have a trigger, when you go to work, you meet someone you don’t get along with, for example, when there is a trigger, it is possibly not a panic attack”, he added.
The treatment of anxiety, according to Estanislau, involves self-care, such as sleeping well, exercising, eating well and undergoing psychotherapy.
Anxiety x Stress
The psychiatrist explains that anxiety happens in the face of things that may not even materialize.
For example: “In anxiety, the person may worry about the traffic, but realize that the traffic was normal after all.”
Anxiety has ′′ catastrophizing ′′ things that won’t necessarily happen.
Stress is a “reaction to something, or fact”.
