Another death in Germany from police shooting – 33-year-old man attacked his father with a knife

Police officers shot and killed a knife-wielding man in Recklinghausen, western Germany, on Wednesday. According to information from Bild newspaper, the 33-year-old got into a confrontation with his father – whom he allegedly stabbed with a knife – and the mother called the police. When the police arrived there, the 33-year-old man allegedly threatened them and they shot him, fatally wounding him, according to information from the Dortmund police department. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the man was holding a knife. The incident happened just days after a knife attack in the city of Solingen, in which three people were killed and eight injured. The self-confessed perpetrator, a 26-year-old Syrian man allegedly linked to the Islamic State jihadist organization, handed himself over to the police. The day before Tuesday, a man armed with knives was shot dead by police in the town of Mers, about 45 kilometers from Solingen. Source: RES
