Annual inflation meets expectations and grows 0.5% in September

The UK Consumer Price Index up 0.4% in monthly reading September after having fallen to -0.4% in August. Despite the improvement, the result does not reach the estimated 0.5% increase.

Annual inflation has grown 0.5%, meeting expectations after rising 0.2% in August.

The annualized core CPI has risen 1.3%, as expected, after increasing 0.9% the previous month.

The United Kingdom has also published its index of retail prices of September. Monthly they have grown by 0.3% after falling to -0.3% in August. The market expected a 0.4% increase. On an annual basis, the indicator has risen 1.1%, above the previous 0.5% but below the 1.2% forecast.
