Its health authorities China announced today a drop in the number of SARS-CoV-2 cases in the last 24 hours, after five consecutive record-breaking days, recording 38,645 infections from the new coronaviruswith 3,624 cases showing symptoms of COVID-19 and the remaining 35,021 asymptomatic, which Beijing counts separately.
Yesterday, Monday, a record 40,347 cases were announced, of which 3,822 showed symptoms.
No deaths due to complications of COVID-19 were reported.
Officially, the number of victims of the pandemic in the giant country of Asia with 1.4 billion inhabitants remained unchanged, at 5,233 dead out of a total of 315,248 infections with symptoms, according to the numbers of the national health committee (s.s. of the Ministry of Health), as reported by Reuters and relayed by the Athens News Agency.

The country is in turmoil after weekend protests, particularly in Shanghai and Beijing, against ultra-strict containment measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic three years after it first appeared.
