Angelina Jolie Asks Brad Pitt To End Legal Battle

That the long legal battle over their winery finally ends: Angelina Jolie asks Brad Pitt, through her lawyers. Exhausted, she invites him to “end the fight” by withdrawing the case against her.

The actor had reported his ex-wife after she had sold her half of the French estate Château Miravalpurchased by the couple in 2008, for 67 million dollars, in October 2021. According to the actor, that sale would have been contrary to a verbal agreement between the two.

The actress’s legal team claims that the star of Fight Club wanted to prevent Angelina Jolie from selling her share of the company unless she signed a “confidentiality agreement – Ed. – that would have contractually prohibited her from speaking outside of court about Pitt’s physical and emotional condition.” This agreement would have covered his “personal misconduct, whether or not related to Miraval”: allegedly prevented her from speaking out about the abuse on the flight from France to Los Angeles in 2016, which led the actress to file for divorce.

Angelina Jolie’s lawyers also said that Pitt wanted her to be “contractually bound” to silence after discovering in 2021 that his ex-wife had submitted “emails, family testimony summaries and other evidence” in the child custody dispute.

According to Jolie’s legal team, «Brad Pitt refused to buy his ex-wife’s shares when he realized she wouldn’t be silenced. By refusing to buy her shares but then suing her, Mr. Pitt directly put into play why the confidentiality agreement was so important to him and what he hoped to bury: his abuse of Ms. Jolie and her family.”

The actress’s lawyers also argue that Angelina Jolie “never filed a complaint” against her ex-husband because “she believed the best thing was for Pitt to take responsibility and help the family recover from the post-traumatic stress he caused.”

Now Angelina Jolie’s legal representative, Paul Murphy, has asked for his lawsuit to be dropped. Brad, who “has control of all the properties the couple shared as well as control of the business”his statement reads, “but is still demanding more, and is suing Angelina for $67 million plus punitive damages.” According to the lawyer, Brad’s intention was precisely to “punish and control Angelina by seeking a newly expanded NDA to cover up her personal misconduct and abuse. Such actions are central to this proceeding. We are not at all surprised that Mr. Pitt is afraid to turn over the documents that prove these facts.”

And while Angelina Jolie asks her ex to lay down their arms “and finally put their family on a clear path to healingunless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove her allegations wrong.”
