Anac releases turbojato aircraft flights at Parintins Airport, Amazonas

The National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) suspended a precautionary measure that prevented the landing of Turbojato aircraft at Júlio Belém airport in Parintins, interior of Amazonas. With this, the airport can again receive large commercial aircraft and not only the ATRs, who were already released.

The decision of the regulatory agency recognizes compliance with the technical requirements established by the aviation agencies and happens less than two months before the Parintins Folkloric Festival, the largest cultural event in Amazonas, where about 120,000 people go every year.

Since December 2024, when the restriction was imposed, then-mayor Mateus Assayag began a task force to reverse the situation. “It’s a giant achievement for our city, for our festival,” said the mayor.

Despite the release, ANAC has conditioned landing permission to rigorous follow -up of the structural improvement schedule that are already underway at Júlio Belém airport.

As part of the measures, Parintins City Hall began resurfacing 600 meters from the runway and takeoff track, as well as revitalizing the safety area and investments in crucial equipment. Horizontal signaling in the area under construction will also be completely restored.

The improvement plan also covers the maintenance of the operational fence, night marking systems and visual auxiliary services. It is also planned to build a new security guardhouse in access to the airport, reinforcing the infrastructure of the site.

“Our commitment is to keep the airport working safely all year round,” said Mateus Assayag. According to the mayor, the negotiations for the resumption of large commercial flights have already started with Azul Linhas Aéreas, aiming to ensure a permanent air connectivity for Parintins on the eve of the folk festival, which takes place at the end of June.
