Alexandre de Moraes maintains blocking of PCO social networks

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, maintained a decision that determined that the profiles of the PCO (Partido da Causa Operária) on Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok be blocked within a maximum period of 24 hours.

For the minister, the appeal presented by the social media companies will not have suspensive effect, “so there is no justification for the partial failure to comply with the judicial decision”.

If the decision is not complied with, there will be a daily fine of R$ 20 thousand.

“In case of non-compliance, I set a daily fine in the amount of BRL 20,000.00 (twenty thousand reais), under the terms of the Criminal Procedure Code, both of the Civil Procedure Code, without prejudice to the imposition of other coercive measures”, said the minister.

In early June, Moraes determined the inclusion of the PCO in the Fake News inquiry. In an order, the magistrate also ordered the Federal Police to hear the president of the acronym, Rui Pimenta, and the blocking of the networks.

The decision comes after the PCO made a series of attacks on the Supreme Court through its social networks. In publications, the party has already defended, for example, the dissolution of the STF and called Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the fake news inquiry, a “skinhead in a toga”, and accused him of “preparing a coup” in the elections.

According to the minister, “there are relevant indications of the use of public money by the president of the political party for merely illicit purposes, namely the mass dissemination of blatant and repeated attacks on democratic institutions and on the democratic rule of law itself, in total disrespect. to the constitutional parameters that protect freedom of expression”.
