Alec Baldwin sues ‘Rust’ crew for handing him a loaded gun

Actor Alec Baldwin filed a lawsuit on Friday against the gunsmith and three other crew members for the lethal shooting that took place on the set of the movie “Rust” when a gun Baldwin was using during rehearsals killed him. cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Baldwin’s lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in a cross-complaint emanating from an earlier lawsuit in which another team member named Baldwin and the others as defendants.

Baldwin’s cross-complaint cites gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, first assistant director Dave Halls, prop supplier Seth Kenney, and prop master Sarah Zachry.

A lawyer for Gutierrez-Reed, Jason Bowles, said in an email Saturday that “Baldwin is responsible for this tragedy.”

Lawyers for Halls and Kenney did not initially respond to requests for statements on behalf of their clients. Reuters was unable to locate a lawyer for Zachry.

The four were also named as defendants, along with Baldwin, in the original lawsuit filed by a script supervisor who alleges the shooting caused her severe emotional distress.
