The president of SYRIZA PS, Alexis Tsipras, toured the market in Vathi, Samos. During his tour he discussed with shopkeepers and consumers the explosive increases and dramatic decline in income and turnover, the spike in energy costs and the dead ends facing small and medium-sized businesses as “their accumulated debts are now being added to the refundable advances for the pandemic, which the government is asking back”.
“Wherever one finds himself, the main thing he hears is that things are not going any better. And here from Samos. Samos is still counting the wounds from the earthquake 18 months later, and no permits have been given, the houses have not been repaired. The main issue, however, is everyday life here as well. The difficulty for households and businesses to cope, when the accuracy has already slipped away,” said Al. Tsipras after his tour.
“We are the country with the highest electricity prices, the highest fuel prices, the highest inflation, but the lowest income. And at the same time, the cartels are beating the backs of the government,” he noted, declaring that “Mr. Mitsotakis must therefore to realize it”. “It doesn’t make sense for him to pluck the daisy for elections. What makes sense is for him to realize that society can’t continue like this anymore”, he emphasized and concluded:
“So instead of burdening pensioners, businessmen. Making fun of pensioners with retroactive payments – one million three hundred thousand pensioners are entitled to them, only three hundred thousand will get them and they will be scrapped. Among all the bills and debts are now coming for small and medium-sized businessmen and the refundable advances.
So instead of being in his own world and burdening employees, pensioners, businessmen even more, he should realize that it’s time to leave. The time has come for him to leave before the damage becomes unbearable for Greek society.”
