The permanent position of the Economic Chamber of Greece, the registration of business data to be done in a single digital portal, from which each public body to extract or control the data, which is necessary for its operation and for its purposes, repeated the President of OEE, Konstantinos Kollias, speaking to the competent committee of the Parliament regarding the bill for the modernization of the General Commercial Register (GEMI).
As he said, “today, there are at least six different registers (AADE Register, e-EFKA Register and PS ERGANI, Register of Real Beneficiaries, NotifyBusiness, OAED, State Aid Information System), which are updated separately and manually by each the company, creating delays but also wasting man-hours “.
Mr. Kollias reiterated the institutional framework, which governs the profession of accountant – tax expert, and which provides that the preparation and signing of financial statements, balance sheets and profit and loss accounts is the work of statutory accountants – tax experts. However, “the financial statements posted on GEMI. Were never verified to be signed by a legally licensed accountant, nor were we asked to confirm his details and the category of professional identity he holds.” For this purpose, the President of the AIF announced that the body will provide, at the GEMI Central Office, a file with the data of the accountants – tax technicians certified by the AIF (VAT number, name and professional ID number), so that, by entering VAT number or professional identity number, in a relevant field of application of GEMI (to be created), to be checked immediately and in real time if the person signing the financial statements is a legal accountant – tax expert, certified by the Economic Chamber of Greece.
Mr. Kollias characterized as extremely positive the creation of a General Register of Members of Scientific Bodies (GEMMEF) in article 56, which aims to replace the inclusion of scientists in GEMI. “The exclusion of scientists, especially economists and accountants from the registration in the GEMI register was our constant request, while with this new register they will be given the opportunity to register free of charge and receive financial support from various programs.”
Overall, the Greek Chamber of Commerce is in a positive position in the bill under discussion, as well as with the institutionalization of regulations and procedures, with the use of digital services and the electronic interconnection of the GEMI information system. with other public registries, the simplification of starting a business and the improvement of the business environment are achieved. “Reforms that our economy so desperately needs and for many years has been proposed by the AIF, to stimulate domestic business and attract foreign direct investment.”
