The rapper’s real name is Min Yoongi, but he uses the stage name SUGA as a member of BTS and Agust D for his solo career, which already has two mixtapes released, “Agust D” and “D-2”.
For now, there are no confirmed tour dates in Brazil. The first show will be on American soil, on April 26, and the last announced date is on June 25, in the capital Seoul of South Korea.
BTS solo career
In June 2022, the K-pop group BTS announced that in the coming years the members will focus on solo careers.
They will also take advantage of the period to fulfill their mandatory service in the South Korean army. Jin, the oldest of the seven members, enlisted in December 2022.
They are expected to meet again in 2025.
But, before the announcement that shocked fans and fueled false rumors of the group’s “disband”, the BTS members already had individual projects.
Check out some of the songs that may be on SUGA’s setlist on his tour:
Daechwita
With over 400 million views on YouTube since its release two years ago, the song is from Agust D’s second mixtape, D-2.
The rapper mixes traditional Korean music with trap beats. In the clip, there is a small participation of Jin and Jungkook, members of BTS.
People
“Why so serious?”. In this song, which is also part of the mixtape D-2, the beat is softer and the lyrics are very reflective.
Agust D questions whether people are really animals that carry wisdom. For him, we are animals that carry only regrets.
seesaw
Featured on BTS’s “LOVE YOURSELF: Answer” album, the song has a jazzy intro and is a soft lullaby-like rap.
SUGA even ventured out for the first time singing the chorus, something unheard of until then. The lyrics compare a love relationship to a seesaw, always with ups and downs.
The Last
The song is part of the mixtape “Agust D”, from 2016, and has extremely personal lyrics. The artist opens up about his experience with depression, anxiety and OCD.
In South Korea, there is still a huge stigma when it comes to mental health and, in the song, Agust D talks about seeking treatment and his parents’ reaction to it.
That That with PSY
SUGA is also a producer and has ventured both producing for BTS, as well as for great artists like PSY – yes, the one from Oppa Gangnam Style.
Not only did he produce this fun song, he sang and even danced in the video, which has an old west inspiration and elaborate choreography.
