Donald Trump, former US president, said on Wednesday (4) that “our hearts go out to the victims”, after a shooting attack at a school in the state of Georgia that left at least four dead and nine injured.
“Our hearts go out to the victims and loved ones of those affected by the tragic event in Winder. These precious children were taken from us too soon by a sick and deranged monster,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Authorities said the suspect in the crime is a 14-year-old high school student.
Shooter will be “tried as an adult”
The shooter, identified as a 14-year-old student at the school, is in custody and will be charged with murder and tried as an adult, said Chris Hosey, director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
According to the investigation director, two students and two teachers were killed in the attack at the school.
“There are four individuals who died in this incident. Nine who were taken to local hospitals with various injuries. Of those who died, two were students and two were teachers here at the school,” Hosey said.
