Billionaire Elon Musk, who recently announced the purchase of Twitter, published this Saturday (19) on his profile on the social network the information that he will reactivate the profile of former US President Donald Trump.
The post was made after the businessman announced the result of a poll, opened the day before, in which he questioned his followers on whether or not to reactivate Trump’s Twitter account. More than 15 million people voted, and 51.8% were in favor of returning the former president to the social network.
Sharing the result, Musk wrote: “The people have decided. Trump will be reinstated. The voice of the people is the voice of God”, said the tycoon. He was not informed, however, when the former president’s account will be reactivated.
The people have spoken.
Trump will be reinstated.

Trump, who had 88 million followers on the platform, was banned from Twitter early last year – before Musk’s acquisition of the company. The measure was taken after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol to try to stop Joe Biden’s confirmation of victory in the election. At the time, Twitter said it was permanently suspending Trump “due to the risk of further incitement to violence.
It was the first time Twitter had suspended the account of a head of state, sparking a worldwide controversy over the impact that US tech giants can have on free speech and democracy.
In May of this year, already in the midst of negotiations for the purchase of Twitter, Musk had already promised to reverse the ex-president’s ban.
