The Porto Alegre City Hall website suffered a cyber attack and was taken offline on Friday afternoon (19). Hackers invaded the portal and replaced the usual content with messages that included local slang, homophobic comments and opinions about football, in addition to displaying codes and the symbol of Grêmio, the city's club.
Currently, when trying to access the website, users are faced with a message stating that the portal is temporarily offline due to technical problems and is undergoing maintenance. The city apologizes for the inconvenience and asks users for patience as it works to restore service as quickly as possible.
According to a note from the city hall, the attack was promptly detected and the website was taken offline by the Information and Communication Technology Company of the City of Porto Alegre (Procempa), so that technical teams can evaluate the incident.
