After suffering an attack from an alleged puma, the Rottweiler dog Nega underwent facial reconstruction surgery. The case occurred last Sunday (16) on a rural property in Palmital (SP), a municipality located approximately 420 meters from the capital of São Paulo.
In a video released by veterinarian Nivaldo Sedenho, it is possible to see how the animal is recovering. Look:
The professional, who responded to the incident and was responsible for the surgery, says that the dog was rescued with a serious injury on the left side of her face, where it was possible to see claw marks from a large feline on her face.
“The skin was detached with parallel incisions with smooth edges, characteristic of injuries caused by something sharp.”
The veterinarian explains that the deep cuts on the dog’s face were probably caused by a kick from a puma, which was hunting in its natural habitat when it felt threatened by the dogs and defended itself. At the time, a pit bull dog died. The jaguar was not found.
Although the procedure on the dog Nega was successful, as there was reconstruction in the corner of the animal’s mouth and face, the veterinarian highlights that even with all the treatment there is a risk of spontaneous opening of the surgical points.
He also points out that, even with the cut close to the dog’s eye, there is no risk of the animal losing its vision. The animal’s medical discharge is expected to take at least two weeks.
